Labour to present new proposal to FG team today.
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) will continue negotiations for a new minimum wage with the federal government Tripartite Committee in Abuja on Tuesday. Both NLC and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) are expected to present fresh proposals. The government has proposed a minimum wage of N57,000, while organized labour has revised its demand to N497,000.
NLC President Joe Ajaero, during a visit to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), highlighted the need for a uniform salary template for journalists, citing neglect and poor welfare in the profession. He advocated for a biennial consultative machinery to negotiate minimum wages for journalists across federal, state, and private sectors.
