Nigeria Faces Blackout After National Grid Fails Again.
Nigeria experienced a complete national grid collapse at 1:33 pm on Monday, leading to a widespread blackout across the country. This is the seventh time the grid has failed in 2024, with the last incident occurring on July 6. At its peak, the grid was generating 4,067.77MW before dropping to zero. Various power stations, including Afam IV & V, Azura-Edo IPP, and Shiroro Hydro, saw their outputs fall from hundreds of megawatts to zero. The failure has caused significant disruption, highlighting ongoing issues in Nigeria’s power infrastructure.
