Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State believes that Nigeria’s current economic challenges are an unavoidable phase necessary for the nation’s improvement. In an interview on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Soludo commented on Nigeria’s rising inflation and cost of living due to fuel subsidy removal and currency floating. He likened the country’s situation to a patient undergoing treatment, emphasizing that pain is inevitable in the process of recovery.

Soludo acknowledged the tough economic situation inherited by President Bola Tinubu upon assuming office in May 2023. He stressed that there is no easy solution to Nigeria’s multiple problems and that the country must endure hardships to progress.
Reflecting on his administration’s achievements in the past two years, Soludo highlighted job creation initiatives, including the employment of over 5,000 teachers and plans for an additional 2,000 hires. He also mentioned his personal austerity measures, such as not drawing a salary from the Anambra government and allowing the First Lady to use his personal vehicles instead of official cars.
