Prof. Aliyu Jauro, the director-general of NESREA, stated that the facilities were sealed for failing to address environmental issues such as Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), Environmental Audit (EA), Environmental Management Plans, and Environmental Permit, both in the Green and Brown Environment. He emphasized that 10 facilities in the green sector and three in the brown sector were sealed.
Represented by Abdusalam Isa, the director of inspector and enforcement, Prof. Jauro mentioned that NESREA had followed proper procedures in shutting down these facilities after exhausting all necessary communication regarding their environmental status. It was noted that some facilities had broken the federal government seals, and they would face consequences for their actions.
NESREA expressed concern over the high level of non-compliance with environmental laws and vowed to enforce regulations across all states of the federation.
