As Ramadan commences, Tinubu urges Dangote and other affluent Nigerians to assist the less privileged.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged Africa’s wealthiest individual, Aliko Dangote, CEO of BUA Group Abdulsamad Rabiu, and other affluent individuals to support the underprivileged in society, especially during the Ramadan fast.

The President made this call in Kano on Sunday during the inauguration of the distribution of 140 truck-loads of rice, generously donated by Senator Abdullahi Yari as a tribute to the President.

Tinubu, represented by his Senior Special Assistant on Print Media, Abdulaziz Abdulaziz, commended the gesture.

He emphasized that the aim was to provide support to individuals in need during this critical time.

“Leadership belongs to more than one person all over the world. There is a need to always help the vulnerable in society,” he expressed.

“Let us come together, unite as a country, and forge ahead for a better Nigeria,” he urged.

Tinubu praised Yari for his donation of 140 trucks of rice, each labeled with his name and picture, for distribution to the less privileged. He also noted that this commodity would significantly alleviate the hardship faced by many at this time.

The president, however, called on Nigerians to pray for the unity, peace, and progress of the country during the holy month of Ramadan.

Earlier, Dr. Abubakar Danburam, representing Yari, disclosed that the 140 trucks contained 84,000 bags of rice, each weighing 50kg. He revealed that it would be distributed to at least 500,000 households in the North. This gesture, he stated, was to complement Tinubu’s efforts in supporting the needy and other vulnerable individuals in society.
