President Tinubu met with the Federal Government team as the committee on the new minimum wage paused talks to start consultations.

The tripartite committee paused discussions on the new minimum wage to allow wider consultations. The federal government team met with President Tinubu, who directed them to resolve the minimum wage issue to prevent further strikes. Labour Minister Nkeiruka Onyejeocha confirmed the government’s commitment to addressing the wage issue.

Segun Kadri, Director General of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), indicated that a new minimum wage should be announced soon, following proper consultations among stakeholders. Kadri emphasized the importance of a thorough process due to the current economic challenges.

The organized labour’s National Executive Council (NEC) examined the government’s proposal for a higher minimum wage and the memorandum of understanding from the June 3rd meeting.
