Mr. Nelson Adepoyigi, the chairman of the All Progressives Congress(APC) in Ward 5 of the Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State, was recently abducted and is said to have passed away while in the hands of his captors.
The APC chieftain was abducted by a group of armed men on Monday at the entrance to his farm, which is located along Ifon-Owo road in Ifon, the local government headquarters.
According to reports, the family raised N5 million after the bandits allegedly called them and demanded a ransom of N100 million for his release. The situation took a shocking twist when the two guys who brought the money to the robbers were arrested because they were unhappy with the amount offered.
They allegedly reached out to the family once more and asked for N30 million in order to free the three victims. However, it was reported that the two other victims were released on Friday after the thugs shot the APC chieftain dead.
In a statement released on Sunday, Ose Local Government chairman Mr. Clement Ojo acknowledged the party chieftain’s passing and called it distressing.

He said, “While we are grateful that the two volunteers have now regained their freedom, it is deeply saddening and utterly painful that the life of Mr. Nelson Adepoyigi was brutally cut shot by his captors,”
“The entire leadership and people of Ose Local Government mourn this tragic loss. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and political associates of the deceased.”
