Dutse had been seeking safety at Ogwule-Kaduna, which is also in Agatu LGA, after being forced to leave his community in a previous herdsmen attack.
A previous attack earlier in the day left three young people who were ambushed in the Apa LGA community of EdikwG’Icho dead.
According to reports, two of the victims were from EdikwG’Icho, and the third was from Ugbokpo.
Despite the recent arrival of high-ranking military officials, including as the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), who pledged more security in the state’s difficult areas, these attacks nevertheless occurred.
This attack is not the first of its kind as several others have been launched on different communities in Benue state leaving scores dead and several others displaced from their homes.
