Benue Kilings: Army Chief Oluyede relocates to Benue with PSOs
Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), has moved to Makurdi, the capital of Benue State, due to the ongoing murders of defenceless people by militias and herdsmen.
The Benue killings and incessant attacks which has left many dead, many injured and maimed, and many houses burned, leaving many homeless has quickly become a regular occurrence.

According to information NaijaEyes obtained, Lt Gen Oluyede left Abuja Tuesday morning with his Principal Staff Officers (PSOs) and other senior officers from Army Headquarters to travel to the state and conduct an immediate assessment of the situation there.
Sources further revealed that the army chief has ordered the deployment of more troops to the state to give the military and other armed groups terrorizing the people of the state the battle of their lives.
The Chief of Army Staff will also visit troops’ locations and operational bases in the state to interact with troops and boost their morale and fighting spirit.
Additionally, the COAS is anticipated to visit attacked areas to reassure the populace of their safety and the Nigerian army’s commitment to defending the lives and property of law-abiding inhabitants.

General Oluyede, while in the state, will personally lead troops in the operation on the battlefront. He is expected to spend some days in the state before relocating back to Abuja.
The COAS may order certain strategic modifications, including as the redeployment of some commanders to lead some of the operational units on ground, due of the reports of daily killings in Benue that have plagued the state in recent weeks, according to sources.
