The Nigerian Communications Commission, the North East Development Commission, and several other federal agencies have been ranked among Nigeria’s best-performing public institutions.
This is according to the Fiscal Responsibility and Institutional Performance Report released on Friday by the Transparency Watch Initiative.
The report, presented by Dr. Ifure Ataifure, assessed federal agencies based on fiscal discipline, fairness in operations, project execution, regulatory effectiveness, public engagement, and overall contribution to national development goals.

According to the ranking, NCC and NEDC topped the list, followed by key agencies including the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA), Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Debt Management Office (DMO), Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Rural Electrification Agency (REA), and the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC).
Dr. Ataifure noted that the NCC stands out as a leading example of regulatory efficiency in Nigeria’s public sector.
He added that its role in expanding digital access, strengthening telecommunications stability, boosting broadband penetration, and supporting economic productivity continues to make the sector one of the country’s most consistent drivers of growth.
