Mr. Olisaemeka Chukwuma, a staff member of Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, was killed in his home over the weekend in St. Bridges area of Umueji, Asaba, Delta state.
According to an eye witness, Chukwuma was gunned down by unidentified assailants as the deceased returned home for the weekend as part of his routine.
His colleagues at DELSU are lamenting and mourning the death of Chukwuma, they are surprised gentle and jovial man could be killed without reasons.
Mrs Otimeyin Ekakitie-Omajuwa, DELSU’s Bursar, said “He was a very good jolly fellow. He had a good relationship with everyone. You will never hear him raise his voice against anyone. He was always smiling and happy.”
She described his death as shocking and unexpected. She further prayed that God would give the family of the deceased the fortitude to bear the loss.
Mr. Moses Darah, Chukwuma’s colleague in DELSU, took to his Facebook page to mourn him. “He was known for his peaceful and jovial nature.
“I urge the police authorities to thoroughly investigate this incident and bring the perpetrators to justice.
“As I speak to you now, Asaba is no longer safe, we are confused over the situation.”
SP Bright Edafe, Delta State Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO), confirmed the incident and that the matter was being investigated.
