The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has detained prominent Lagos socialite, Emeka Okonkwo Daniel, commonly known as E-Money, for allegedly mishandling the Naira.
Reports gathered revealed that he was hauled up by officers of the commission on Monday night at his apartment in Lagos.
Due to his alleged act of spraying US dollars, which is against Nigeria’s Foreign Exchange Act, the socialite is accused of abusing Naira and defacing foreign currencies.
According to the EFCC, it has started preliminary investigations and intends to bring charges against E-Money once its probe is complete.

Vanguard also found out that EFCC investigators have flown him to Abuja for additional questioning.
Although specifics of the occurrence are still unknown, the purported cash spraying allegedly happened at a social gathering in Lagos.
Dele Oyewale, a spokesman for the EFCC, declined to comment when approached. Nonetheless, the arrest and the ongoing inquiry have been verified by reliable Commission sources.
