Heartbreak! UNILORIN Star Student Takes Own Life

A male student in his second year at the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), Kwara State, is said to have taken his life recently over financial constraints.

The yet-to-be-identified student studied in the Faculty of Communication and Information Sciences (CIS). Reports say the incident occurred at his private residence in the Oke-Odo vicinity of Tanke, Ilorin, the state capital.

Within the university, it was confirmed that the deceased committed suicide as his finances could not sustain him anymore.

He lost his father a few years ago with his retired school teacher mother bearing the cost of his education. Financial struggle for him began after he returned to school last year, causing his classmates to raise money to assist with tuition and basic needs.

Allegedly, after his roommate went for lectures last weekend, he drank poison, leaving a note that stated he could not handle his financial situation anymore.
