The Lakurawa terrorist group has once again struck a deadly blow to the people of Kebbi State. It’s reported that they killed three staff of a leading telecommunication firm, Airtel, barely a week after they killed two police officers.
According to reports, this happened in Gumki village, Arewa Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The three staff were working on a telecommunication mast site for the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) when they were attacked by the terrorist band. This occurred on 10 January 2025, around 8:47 pm.
However, a fourth person was also involved in the attack and killed, but his identity remains unknown.
SP Nafiu Abubakar, The Police Public Relations Officer, said,
Suspected members of the Lakurawa terrorist group have killed four people, including three employees of a leading telecommunications firm, Airtel, in Gumki village, Arewa Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The attack occurred on 10 January 2025, around 8:47 pm at a construction site in Gumki, as the three victims were reportedly working on the installation of a surveillance mast for the Nigeria Immigration Service when the attackers struck. The fourth victim, whose identity remains unknown, was also killed during the attack.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Abubakar, confirmed the incident, stating, “Four people lost their lives in the attack, including three staff of Airtel and one local resident.”
CP Bello M. Sani, the Kebbi State Commissioner of Police, and CIS Muhammad Bashir Lawali, Comptroller of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Kebbi State Command, visited the crime scene and condemned the attack by the Lakurawa terrorist group.

Following the attack, CP Sani has deployed more tactical teams to several hotspot areas in Kebbi State and placed them on a high caution alert. He also urged the residents to help with intelligence on the whereabouts of the Lakurawa terrorist group.
