Ghana Police Nab Nigerian Drug Lord with Cocaine, Heroin

The 56-year-old suspect was arrested on Tuesday, March 18, 2024, after a raid at his hideout where a total of 192kg of cocaine and 0.42kg of heroine revealed an estimated street value of 2.1 million US dollars.
Francis Opoku Amoah, Acting Director, Public Affairs and International Relations of the commission, said this in a statement on Wednesday, March 19.
An intelligence-led operation by the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) on Tuesday, 18 March 2025, resulted in the arrest of a 56-year old Nigerian named Uchechukwu Chima at Oyarifa, a suburb of Accra,” the statement read.
A search carried out by NACOC team at the hideout of the suspect revealed substances suspected to be narcotic drugs. Field tests conducted on the suspected substance proved positive for cocaine and heroin, both narcotic drugs.
About 192kg of cocaine-and 0.42kg heroin- had been seized of the drug, which has an estimated street value of Two Million, One Hundred and Twenty-one Thousand, Six Hundred and Sixty United States Dollars ($2.1 Million).
The suspect, Uchechukwu Chima has been under the eye of NACOC for quite a while now and is said to be the mastermind behind other seizures/arrests made by NACOC in the past.
“NACOC by this seizure and arrest has prevented this quantity of drugs from finding their way into the street and prevented untold millions of lives from perishing as a result of abusing such hard drugs”.
