A woman was shot dead, and two others injured during a gunmen attack in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The incident took place on August 26 at approximately 7:30 p.m. while a commercial motorcyclist, Mangut Matthew, was transporting two women, Blessing Samson, 47, and Charity Benjamin, 37, from Wang village to Butura Kampani.
According to eyewitnesses, who spoke to Zagazola Makama, the trio were suddenly ambushed by unknown gunmen who opened fire on them.
“One of the female passengers was shot dead, while the motorcyclist and the other female passenger sustained varying degrees of injuries,” said the sources.
Police in Bokkos, Plateau, said the Divisional Police Officer led patrol teams to the scene after receiving a distress call. The injured were taken to a nearby clinic for treatment.
The body of the deceased was released to her family for burial after they refused an autopsy.
Meanwhile, security sources said efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest the attackers.
