The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested four suspected members of a notorious ‘one-chance’ robbery and kidnapping gang operating across parts of Abuja.
The command’s spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, said in a statement on Sunday that two abducted victims were saved by the operation.
According to Adeh, the suspects were taken into custody on October 9 in Dape village after a “near-deadly confrontation” with Life Camp division police officers.
She stated that after receiving a distress call from a victim who claimed to have been kidnapped by some suspected one-chance criminals and demanded a N1 million ransom to be released, operatives responded.
“Upon receipt of the report, police operatives from Life Camp Division immediately swung into action,” she said.
“Through the deployment of digital and tactical intelligence, on 9th October 2025, at about 4:30 a.m., the suspects were arrested at Dape Village after a near-deadly confrontation with the police.”

She explained that two kidnapped victims were rescued during the operation. However, one of them, who sustained multiple stab wounds from the attackers, was rushed to Gwarinpa General Hospital for treatment, she stated.

Preliminary investigations, according to the police spokeswoman, showed that the suspects had committed several one-chance robberies in Abuja’s Bannex and Kado neighbourhoods.
The suspects allegedly confessed to robbing at least six victims, both men and women, before their arrest.

“They used a vehicle with tinted windows to deceive unsuspecting passengers and have confessed to robbing six victims, both men and women, before their arrest,” Adeh stated.
She listed the items recovered from the suspects to include 15 international passports, two sharp daggers, two cutlasses, bloodstained documents, four mobile phones, two hammers, and three biros.
Adeh stated that after the investigations were over, the accused would face charges in court.

According to her, the FCT’s police commissioner, Ajao Adewale, praised the Life Camp divisional police officers’ quick response and urged locals to have faith in the police and report incidents right away.
Additionally, he urged the public to keep an eye out and report any suspicious activity by calling the command’s emergency numbers, 08032003913, 08028940883, and CRU FCT, 08107314192.
