Tragic: 6-Year-Old Boy Kidnapped, Murdered in Bauchi
By the Bauchi State’s local news, the Police Command stated it arrested four suspects for the abduction and murder of one boy of 6 years, Shuaibu Safiyanu, in the state, more especially in the Darazo Local Government Area. Police spokesman, CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, in a statement released to the media Saturday, March 22, 2025, said that Safiyanu Abdullahi, the father of the victim, reported to the Village Head, Musa Isah, about his son’s disappearance.
The father got a phone call from someone unknown, and ransom was placed at N3 million and later reduced to N200,000.
Police investigations led credibly to the arrest of Rabi’u Muhammadu, while investigations revealed he owned the phone number calling and the account number on which ransom was demanded.
The second suspect divulged during questioning that 35-year-old Samson Ozoichikel was the brain behind the abduction. He also mentioned two others, Muhammad Sani and Musa Usman.
Sadly, the corpse of Shuaibu Safiyanu was found in a nearby bush, with a rope tied around the neck on March 21.
The remains were moved to a General Hospital, where he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor.
“The Command had in its custody four persons connected with the unfortunate incident of the kidnapping and murder of a 6-year-old boy, Shuaibu Safiyanu, in Sade village at Darazo Local Government Area,” the statement reads.
“On March 20, 2025, at about 0800 hours, Safiyanu Abdullahi, a resident of Sade village, reported the disappearance of his son Shuaibu to the Village Head, Musa Isah. Later that same day, a ransom of N3,000,000 was demanded by an unknown caller, which was latter brought down to N200,000.
“A decision was made by the detectives from Darazo Divisional Police Headquarters to act quickly upon the report by launching an investigation which led to a breakthrough at a nearby POS outlet.
“On March 21, 2025, at about 1000 hours, police operatives arrested 23-year-old Rabi’u Muhammadu from Leka village, having found him in possession of the phone number and account number 0145285130 OZOCHIKELU SAMSON UNION BANK PLC through which ransom was demanded.
“During interrogation, Rabi’u Muhammadu identified Samson Ozoichikel, 35, from Sade village, as the mastermind behind the kidnapping. He also implicated two additional suspects: Muhammad Sani, 25, ALIAS Jingi, and Musa Usman, 30, known as Kala, from Leka village Via Darazo. All these four suspects are in custody at the moment.
“Unfortunate for the corpse of Shuaibu Safiyanu was found at about 0830 hours of March 21, 2025, in a nearby bush, with a rope tied around his neck. The corpse was evacuated to the General Hospital, where a medical doctor confirmed his death and subsequently released to the family for burial as mandated by Islamic rites.
“CP Bauchi State, to the people, assured that the Command shall see to it that justice is done in this painful case. The investigation is still ongoing.
