‘Crisis Is Over’ — Pearse Hails Appeal Court Ruling on PDP

Dr. Adetokunbo Pearse, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party’s Board of Governors, has declared that the party is no longer under the control of the Nyesom Wike faction, following appeal court’s recent ruling.

Recall that the Court of Appeal’s weekend ruling effectively overturned the Federal High Court’s recognition of the caretaker committee linked to the PDP faction led by Abdurahman Mohammed.

In the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) dispute, the appellate court also criticised Justice Uche Agomoh of the Federal High Court in Ibadan for granting relief that none of the parties requested.

Speaking on Arise News, Pearse said there is only one PDP—the one registered in 2008.

He further emphasized that the court has now made the legal reality abundantly clear. Specifically, the judiciary ruled that the Anyanwu group has completely lacked any legitimate standing since November 1, 2025.

He said, “That was the certified true copy of the Supreme Court judgment of April last year and we went to court to say that Anyanwu and co have been nullified.“They appealed this judgment, and judgment came out yesterday and said that finally, the Anyanwu faction, since the November 1 2025 has been null and void, and that the Turaki group is the legitimate PDP.

No faction anymore

Pearse said, “There are no factions in the party anymore. This faction was a creation of the imagination, the frequent of imagination of Wike and Co. The courts have said that again and again. You remember judgments that nullified our convention? The 15th and 16th November 2025 convention in Ibadan? But there were other judgments that came on that same judgment. That issue said our convention was nullified, so also was the legitimacy of the faction led by Anyanwu.

“They refused to accept that they have been nullified. They wanted to accept that our convention was not acceptable. So this is where we are, and this is what has been going on for ages, this appeal came out and has settled the issue.

“There is only one party, and mark my word. You know sometimes a madman will tell you the truth. Wike has said that the PDP is one, and yes, it is one. Since this appeal, it has showed that the only party, the one party that is PDP, is the one led by Dr Turaki.”
