The ADC has strongly criticised the Federal Government’s plan to reintegrate over 700 former terrorists into society following rehabilitation.
The further party warns that the approach indicates a dangerous softness towards terrorism.
The party also claims that recent remarks made by government officials describing insurgents as brothers and prodigal sons, along with plans to reintegrate them, reveal a concerning misperception of the threat posed by terrorism.

The party in a statement argues that terrorism should not be dismissed or equated with family conflicts.
It read, “Terrorism is not a family dispute. It is not a moral metaphor. It’s a sustained and organised campaign of violence against the Nigerian state and its people.”
Additionally, the ADC warned that responding to such a serious threat with soft language and policies that appear to favour rehabilitation over justice is dangerous.

It further described the government’s current plan as confusing and potentially dangerous, adding that it does not represent a clear or effective security strategy.
The ADC also noted that it is unclear whether impacted communities were consulted or how the persons will be tracked upon their return.
The party also cautioned that reintegrating former combatants in the absence of justice could give victims the wrong impression and could incite more bloodshed.

“The ADC believes that terrorism must be treated as what it is: an existential threat to the Nigerian state. Our approach will be rooted in clarity, accountability, and competence. Those who have committed grave crimes will face the full weight of the law, because justice is not optional in a society governed by laws.
