At a public gathering in Taraba State’s Takum Local Government Area on Saturday, Danjuma restated his long-held belief that people shouldn’t depend entirely on the government to keep them secure.

The recent wave of murders in Benue, Plateau, and other parts of Nigeria, he claimed, had confirmed his worries once more.

“The warning I gave some years ago is still as valid today as it was then. Nigerians must rise and defend themselves

“We cannot continue to sit and watch while bandits, terrorists, and criminal gangs massacre our people unchecked,” he said.

Danjuma emphasized that the government cannot address the country’s insecurity issues on its own and called on communities to assume personal responsibility for their own safety.

Danjuma, a native of Takum, lamented over what he called the “government’s unsatisfactory security”, emphasizing that it was time for communities to take charge of safeguarding their lives and property.

His remarks coincide with growing worries about attacks by criminals, including bandits, herdsmen and kidnappers, in several regions of the nation.

“It is now very clear that the government alone cannot protect us. We must stand up and defend ourselves, our families, and our lands before these criminals overrun the entire country,” he added.
