After 34 years of distinguished service three-time Force Spokesperson, UN medal winner, lawyer-turned-cop DIG Frank Mba bows out voluntarily
Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Frank Mba, alongside seven other senior officers, will be retiring from the Nigeria Police Force, following recent changes in the leadership of the force.
This is just as seven Assistant Inspectors-General of Police have been slated for promotion to the rank of Deputy Inspector-General of Police.

The voluntary retirement according to findings have been allegedly linked to the appointment of Mba’s junior, in the person of Tunji Disu as Inspector General of Police, replacing Kayode Egbetokun.
Recall that Disu was sworn in on Wednesday 4 2026, as the 23rd indigenous IGP.
Sources at the Force Headquarters revealed the DIGs had been preparing to leave but were waiting for a signal which had yet to come.
“The DIGs are very ready to leave, but they are waiting for signals. Many of them had moved their belongings from their offices in anticipation of their retirement.

“Maybe when the AIG slated for promotion comes, they will leave,” one of the sources told our correspondent.
“The officers are Margreth Ochalla, Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, Ishiaku Mohammed, Zachariah Fera, Zango Ibrahim, Umar Shehu Nadada, and Muhammed Abdul Sulaiman.
