The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC), has uncovered an alleged cyber fraud academy, commonly referred to as a Yahoo academy in Abuja, leading to the arrest of 31 suspects.
The raid, carried out on Thursday, April 9, 2026, took place at Becki Estate in Karu, within the FCT.

Officials of the agency described the raid as a sting operation.
Details shared on the official page of the commission reveal that the suspects included two key operators and several trainees.
The statement added that the suspects were arrested while undergoing what appeared to be organised cyber fraud tutorials.

According to the agency, items recovered during the raid include multiple mobile phones, 18 laptops.
It added that other digital devices believed to have been used for fraudulent activities were also recovered.
It further states that some of the recruits were allegedly deceived from Benue State with promises of respectable employment possibilities, only to be exposed to online fraud upon arrival.

According to additional information, the recruits were held hostage inside the facility, with movement restricted and their personal phones confiscated.
EFCC stated that the suspects are still being held and would face charges in court after the ongoing investigations are finished.
