This move follows a strategic meeting of senior officers, during which operational plans for the festive period were reviewed and strengthened.

At the session, NSCDC State Commandant Igbalawole Sotiyo instructed Area Commanders and Divisional Officers to prioritize the protection of critical infrastructure while ensuring the safety of residents throughout the celebrations.

He stressed that the directive covers the period before, during and after the Eid-ul-Fitr festivities, noting that security presence must remain consistent throughout.

According to Sotiyo, “the personnel deployment forms part of a broader plan designed to ensure a peaceful atmosphere for both residents and visitors marking the end of Ramadan.”

He explained that officers have been assigned to key public locations including markets, recreational centres and other high-traffic areas considered vulnerable during celebrations.

“The officers are to be strategically positioned to maintain order and prevent any potential threats to public safety,” the NSCDC Commandant stated.

He further instructed field commanders to take responsibility for effective supervision of deployed personnel within their jurisdictions.

“As Area Commanders and Divisional Officers, you are to take full charge of your areas of responsibility and ensure strict monitoring of officers on duty,” he said.

Sotiyo added that professionalism and vigilance must be upheld at all times, urging personnel to remain courteous while carrying out their duties.

He also highlighted the importance of inter-agency cooperation, noting that collaboration with other security outfits would be essential for seamless operations.

“They will collaborate effectively with other security agencies to ensure a hitch-free celebration across the state,” he said.

The NSCDC Command appealed to community stakeholders to support ongoing efforts aimed at maintaining peace.

Parents, religious leaders and community heads were specifically urged to caution young people against actions capable of disrupting public order.

He also reassured residents of its commitment to safeguarding lives and property and urged the public to report suspicious activities promptly.
