2027 Electronic Transmission Crisis: Senate Hits Back at Protesters

Senate spokesman, Yemi Adaramodu has fired back at Nigerians protesting in favour of real-time electronic transmission of election results.

In an appearance with Channels Television’s “Politics Today” show on Tuesday, Adaramodu said that the demonstrators had always been around, even for positive reasons.

According to earlier reports, Nigerians gathered in Abuja on Monday for the “Occupy National Assembly” rally in protest of the Senate’s decision to deny the e-transmission of election results.

Prominent politicians took part in the demonstration, including former Transport Minister Rotimi Amaechi and Peter Obi, the former presidential candidate of the Labour Party.

Reacting, the Senate spokesman said, “Those people you saw on the street are always there, even for good things.

“If you give them a road, they will say it is not wide enough. If you give them electricity, they will say the light is not bright enough.

“It’s the same people on the street, and they will continue to be there.”
