BREAKING: Popular Nigerian evangelist, Rev.Dr. Uma Ukpai, is dead

One of Nigeria’s most revered Christian leaders, Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, has just passed away at the age of 80, marking the end of a remarkable era in Nigeria’s evangelical ministry.

The renowned preacher passed away on October 6, 2025, following decades of significant service to the Christian faith, according to an official statement issued by his family.

Described as a “faithful soldier of the cross,” Dr. Ukpai served in active ministry for more than 60 years, sharing the gospel with stirring sermons, extensive evangelistic campaigns, and a ministry characterised by miracles, wonders, and testimonials of transformation.

The family continued, saying that although his physical presence would be much missed, his legacy endures in the innumerable lives he impacted. “Finished his race and is now resting in eternal praise.”

Uma Ukpai’s teachings and ministry went much beyond Nigeria’s boundaries, impacting preachers and followers worldwide. He was well regarded for his humility and profound understanding of the Bible. Massive crowds frequently attended his evangelistic outreach events, and many believe that his teachings inspired healing and personal rejuvenation.

The family affirmed that “details of his obsequies will be announced…” in due course, despite the fact that funeral details have not yet been made public.
