A lecturer from Kogi University was forcibly disrobed following accusations of sexual harassment.
A lecturer at the Federal University in Lokoja, Kogi State, faced a near-naked public ordeal on Friday, May 10, due to allegations of sexual harassment involving a female student.
The lecturer, whose full identity remains unconfirmed, drew the ire of several other female undergraduates from the English Department, where he lectures. They insisted on publicly ‘disgracing’ him, asserting that ‘his wrongdoing had reached its limit.’
Stripped down to his boxers, the lecturer was spared further humiliation by the collective intervention of the school security unit at the Adankolo mini campus of the institution.
According to The Nation, during questioning, the lecturer implicated his colleagues, including the Head of the Department (HOD), alleging that they would frequently furnish him with names of female students to either “pass or fail” based on their closeness or absence from him.
Upon inquiry, the university’s spokesperson, Daniel Iyke, confirmed that the management is aware of the incident and promptly initiated an investigation.
Iyke stated, “The university has its own internal procedures for handling such cases. The vice-chancellor has been briefed, and a committee has been established to investigate. This action was taken immediately, and the findings will be disclosed as soon as they are available. At this stage, this is all the information I can provide.”
