Suspected goat thieves captured in Niger state.
The Niger State Police Command has apprehended two suspected thieves with stolen goats in Bida Local Government Area. SP Wasiu Abiodun, the command’s spokesperson, revealed this in a statement on Saturday, May 11, 2024.
According to the statement, police operatives and community members spotted and intercepted a Toyota Corolla vehicle with registration number LRG 757 AA at Area-4 Bida on May 8, 2024. The occupants, identified as Aliyu Zaki, 36, and Umar Mohammed, 20, both from Masaga and Kusodogbo areas of Bida respectively, aroused suspicion
When questioned, Aliyu attempted to flee in the vehicle, while Umar also attempted to escape on foot. However, they were pursued and apprehended by the police.
Upon interrogation, the suspects confessed to their intention to steal goats in the area. They had already stolen two goats before being intercepted.
The suspects are currently undergoing investigation at A Div Bida and will be prosecuted in court once the investigation is concluded.
