Another Dive into the Matrix? Warner Bros. Reboots with New Writer/Director
Remember the last Matrix movie, a not-so-subtle jab at corporations leeching off cult classics? Well, Warner Bros. Discovery seems to have a different take.
According to Deadline, Drew Goddard (writer of The Martian) is set to write and direct a new Matrix film! Lana Wachowski will be the executive producer, but details are scarce. There’s no title, release date, or confirmation if original stars like Keanu Reeves will return.
Warner Bros. is optimistic though. Production head Jesse Ehrman claims Goddard has a fresh take that respects “what Lana and Lilly [Wachowski] started” while offering his own spin on the beloved franchise.
Goddard himself is a huge fan, stating, “The Matrix films changed both cinema and my life… I am beyond grateful for the chance to tell stories in their world.”
