BREAKING! FG Pays NYSC N33K for February, N77K Still a Dream 💰⏳
The Federal Government of Nigeria has rewarded members of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, February allowances of about N33,000, even after the increase of the benefits to N77,000 was approved.

The official announcement of the revision from N33,000 to N77,000 was disclosed to be effectual from July 2024 by the Federal Government based on the National Minimum Wage Amendment Act 2024.

Multiple corps members confirmed their February allowance on Friday night; however, it remains unchanged at N33,000, which is less than half of the new amount that was supposedly approved.
This development contradicts the earlier assurances that were given in January by the NYSC Director-General, Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed, who publicly stated that the allowance increment was already a done deal, awaiting only the passage of the 2025 budget.

“The Federal Government has already approved the increment of your allowance; it is no longer news, we have the approval in our hands. What we are waiting for is just the passage of the budget,” Ahmed had told corps members in Katsina State, vowing that by February, they would start receiving 77,000.
However, February has come and gone with nothing.
While the government has not given any reason yet for the delay, the development baffles many corps members who remained confused and frustrated at the prospect of worsening economic realities.
One corps member serving in Oyo expressed his disappointment thus: “How do they expect us to survive on ₦33,000 when everything is expensive? They told us we would get ₦77,000 this month, and now they have failed again. This government keeps making promises but never delivers.

Another corps member at Kano bemoaned that the stalling of the increment serves as another instance that highlights the insensitivity of the government to the plight of young Nigerians.
“We serve our country, yet we cannot afford to eat good food. The government knows that though ₦33,000 is not enough; they do not care. They keep making empty promises while we suffer,” she said.
