Comedian Acapella cries out-“I received threats for saying Lagos is smelling”
Popular Nigerian comedian Acapella has reported receiving threats after he supported claims that Lagos has an unpleasant smell.
The controversy began when influencer Scott Iguma shared a viral video describing Lagos as “smelling” and infested with “big mosquitoes.”

This comment did not sit well with Tokunbo Wahab, the Lagos State Commissioner for Environment, who responded by accusing individuals of using social media to spread “harmful narratives” about the state.
He suggested that non-indigenous residents should focus on promoting Lagos rather than criticizing it and disrespecting their host community.

In response, Acapella criticized the commissioner for what he perceived as double standards based on ethnicity and origin. This backlash led to threats from some social media users.
On Tuesday, Acapella took to X to express his concerns, stating, “I’ve received several DMs and a few calls making empty threats…

No Nigerian is more Nigerian than any other Nigerian.” He emphasized that highlighting Nigeria’s issues does not equate to being anti-Nigeria; rather, it is a crucial step toward addressing and resolving those problems.

This idiot and mentally deranged deplorable should rest already. Enough of the negativity! If you aren’t okay with Lagos that your people are dropping refuse by the roadside for them to later call it “smelly” then leave it as a matter of urgency. Haba Mana!! vincentado1994@gmail.com-SMME
Lagos smells, who doesn’t know that.
