Davido Reacts as Tems Wins Best African Music at Grammys
Popular Afrobeats artist David Adeleke, known professionally as Davido, has taken to social media to respond after Tems won the Best African Music Performance at the 2025 Grammy Awards, beating him and several others.
Tems has once more established her presence on the international scene by winning the Grammy Award for Best African Music Performance with her hit track “Love Me Jeje” during the 67th Grammy Awards.
This category, created in 2024 to honor African musical talent, saw Tems triumph over formidable competitors such as Davido, Wizkid, Asake, Burna Boy, Chris Brown, Lojay, and Yemi Alade.

Tems, whose full name is Temilade Openiyi, becomes a two-time Grammy Award winner after claiming the “Best African Music Performance” at the 67th Grammy Awards held on Sunday, January 2nd, 2024, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, USA, despite the ongoing wildfires affecting parts of the city.
The “Love Me Jeje” creator from the “Born In The Wild” album dedicated the award to her wonderful mother, who joined her on stage.
Following his four Grammy nominations, Davido, known for the song “Unavailable,” reacted with grace after his losses, taking to his official page on the popular microblogging site X, formerly known as Twitter, to commend Tems. He also congratulated his friend Chris Brown.
Davido posted on X: “Congratulations to my one and only ???? ! @chrisbrown ! And to the Queen @temsbaby we are proud of you! ????????????⭐️.”
