“I Didn’t Know!” – Student in Trouble After Hitting Lecturer
A female student of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, Anambra, who was caught on camera assaulting a lecturer for interrupting her dance video, has finally spoken out in her defense.

A viral video that circulated online showed the moment the young student bit and fought the lecturer as reports have it that this occurred when the lecturer unknowingly interrupted the lady in the midst of filming a dance clip in the university hallway.

In the latest turn of the event, the young lady explained that she was recording a video for some time alongside a friend when suddenly she just felt a push on her arm, an “excuse me” followed.

She went on to say that she did not even know the man was a lecturer but felt utterly disrespected and reacted out of her feelings.

Immediately, she stated, the man snatched her phone from behind, and a tussle ensued, which led to the phone falling and getting damaged.
According to her, that man then held onto her by the chest and did not let go, which to her was utterly disrespectful from a man’s point of view. In the course of trying to free herself, his dress got torn.

Speaking further, she said, “This morning, around 11 a.m., I was recording a quick video with a friend along my lecture room hallway when a strong push on my left side suddenly sent me cringing with anger and some power words such as ‘excuse me.’ I thought at first it was a student, but when I turned around, I was shocked to see a man-a lecturer, unbeknownst to me. I felt weak, faint, and absolutely disrespected.”

“I turned to my friend and whispered, ‘Omo, see how this lecturer pushed me,’ and my friend was trying to make me feel okay. Without the whole matter settling, someone came back and tried to grab my phone from behind, I held on tight and was shouting in shock as I turned to see the same man that had pushed me before. Mind you, I didn’t even know he was a lecturer. I pleaded with him, ‘Sorry sir, why are you draggi ng my phone?’ And he kept on quiet while pulling at my phone before it fell and broke.”
“I was left utterly shattered, and even as I tried to pick the pieces of a broken phone, I kept on lamenting in anguish. Then, the situation became worse when the lecturer got hold of my breast area and said ‘unspeakable’ words to me. I was standing stupified, trying to grasp the horror that was unfolding before my view.”
“At the same time, I found my cleavage hanging open, and therefore, he wouldn’t let go, ignoring my plea to free me. The scratches and visible prints were evidence of his nails and grip on my unrealized chest.”
“I was horrified; I pulled my dress, held it together, and almost shouting, ‘Sir, I’ll hold you ohh!’ I didn’t mean to threaten him; I just wanted him to release me. He wouldn’t budge. In a split second, I bit his hand, hoping he’d let go. That’s when I held his clothes and accidentally tore his shirt.”

“The situation escalated, with some students intervening. In no time, I saw Theatre Arts students (from his department) approaching me with weapons. I was scared and hurt. Eventually, security personnel arrived and took me away in their van.”
I’m still disoriented from the previously happening incidents. Disrespecting a lecturer was not my intention; I would have acted differently in protection of dignity and interests as woman under duress. I am terribly sorry for my reactions, and I hope that somehow, someway, this will end peacefully.”
