According to her, after the tetanus injection was administered, late Mohbad developed goosebumps, a reaction which she said his wife, Omowunmi, described as a “normal response” for him. When she  arrived at late Mohbad’s Lekki residence around 2:30 pm, she observed a swollen cut on his right hand. Ogedengbe said that administered the tetanus shot to his upper arm, after which she decided to give him paracetamol rather than diclofenac upon confirming that Mohbad had an ulcer.

She revealed that she then injected him with 4ml of paracetamol which she diluted with 1ml of water, along with a slow 10ml dose of ceftriaxone to treat a bacterial infection. Ogedengbe added that as she administered the ceftriaxone, Mohbad began to feel some discomfort and got up to vomit.

“After vomiting in the toilet, he returned to the room and sat on the floor, where I noticed the goosebumps on his body. “I showed his wife (Omowunmi) the reaction, and she said it was his normal response to injections,” she stated.

While further narrating the ordeal, she explained that there were four people in the room, including Mohbad, his wife Wunmi, and Ayobami when the injection was administred.

Ogedengbe stated that she then asked his wife Omowunmi, “Why didn’t you tell me he reacts this way to injections?”

“Omowunmi then took Mohbad to the bathroom and began pouring water on his head,” she narrated. Upon realizing the delicacy nature of the situation, the nurse stated that she and Ayobami rushed to a pharmacy to get medication for the allergic reaction, however, they were delayed at the first pharmacy.

“After visiting another pharmacy and obtaining the necessary hydrocortisone injection and normal saline infusion, we returned to find Mohbad outside the house. By then, preparations were in progress to transfer him to the hospital. “Due to a lack of available vehicles and heavy traffic, Mohbad was transported to the hospital on a motorcycle, where he was later declared dead on arrival by the medical team.” She added.

She also revealed that on getting to the hospital, the medical personnel initially refused to treat him, putting them in a state of confusion. Ogedengbe stated that late Mohbad’s body was eventually taken back to the house at about 8 pm, while they went to the Orchid Lekki Police Station to obtain a death certificate.

Following the police inquiries, they were directed to the Ajiwe Police Station at Ajah for a report. After cross-examination by the counsel for late Mohbad’s family, Dr. Wahab Shittu, SAN; Omowunmi’s counsel, Kabir Akingbolu; and that of the state, the case was adjourned to Friday, March 21, 2024, for further hearing.

The Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions at a Magistrate Court, situated in Sabo, Yaba, Lagos, in February 2025,  stated that Ogedengbe and Sodiq would face prosecution for recklessness and negligence acts under Section 251 (e) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
