Shock! White Garment Church Performs Burna Boy’s ‘Lambo’

Celestial Church choir members did a spontaneous take on Burna Boy’s viral song Lambo, which has left many divided online.

The performance comes weeks after Burna Boy was accused of failing to deliver a promised Lamborghini to an influencer. The Afrobeats artist later did an impromptu Lambo freestyle on a Kenyan music show which quickly went viral.

Virally, the Celestial Church members remix Lambo into their worship style.

But that also sparked debate; some say the liturgical use of secular music is wrong, but others believe it a creative expression.

Another user, @benkleph, disapproved that: “This is the worst video I have seen. You cannot put light and darkness in one vessel.”

Aladura, in Yoruba, denotes ‘praying person.’ Aladura is that class of indigenous churches born from that Yoruba land in the dawn of the 20th century.

These churches believe in the efficiency of prayers and practical guidance by the Living God through his Holy Spirit in all its programs.

Abbieassalem Samuel Somoye (Baba Dada) is acknowledged to have started the first Aladura church in 1918 at Abule Dada in Ogun State Nigeria.

The distinguishing marks of the major Aladura churches derive from the different apostolic way; the church founders were called directly by Christ himself. Jesus Christ emphasized: my house shall be called the house of prayer.

They are characterized with the power of prayer, prayerful songs and the words of God (from the Bible as well as revealed voice of God).

Sanctification is their promise. The name in yoruba is: ijo-mimo. Aladura churches are Evangelicals, and some aspects identified with Pentecostalism can be traced to Aladura churches.

Most of the pioneer founders in the early 20th century were initially Anglicans and Methodists.

They rejected the power of traditional African religion as malign. Such a termination also fell to the both polygamy and witchcraft and featured an emphasis on the “holiness movement”.
