Liam Payne’s Autopsy Report Reveals His Cause of Death
According to police reports, former One Direction singer, Liam Payne died from multiple injuries sustained in his fall. That led to ‘internal and external haemorrhaging’, preliminary autopsy results have revealed.
You may recall that the 31-year-old British singer was pronounced dead yesterday, 17th October, 2024. Following a fall from the third floor into the courtyard of the Casa Sur Hotel in Argentina’s capital.Â
An outpouring of grief from fans led the police into investigating the circumstances of his death.
The local prosecutorâs office said in a statement; that it appeared Payne was alone when he died. It said investigators found broken objects and furniture in his hotel room. As well as what appeared to be narcotics and alcohol. The results of toxicology tests will most likely not be made public for several weeks.
In an autopsy performed a few hours after Payneâs death, forensic experts; Santiago Maffia Bizzozero and Victor Roberto Cohen, determined that Payne died from falling out of a window and that there were no signs of foul play. Although it is not clear whether he intentionally jumped or accidentally fell from the third floor.
The autopsy took place at a city morgue in Viamonte Street a 15-minute drive south-west of Hotel CasaSur Palermo, the hotel where the pop star plunged from a third-floor balcony yesterday around 5pm local time.Â
The autopsy report was submitted to the prosecutorâs office, which said it indicated that Payne died of âmultiple traumaâ and âinternal and external bleedingâ in the skull, chest and abdomen and limbs.
The prosecutorâs office also indicated that, because of the position in which the body was found and the injuries sustained, they presume that Liam Payne may have fallen into a state of unconsciousness and did not try to protect himself from the fall.
Alberto Crescenti, a director of emergency medical response service, told TN television that Liam Payne was dead when paramedics arrived, adding: ‘Our role was to head there quickly, give medical attention, and try to resuscitate him, but his injuries were incompatible with life.’
‘According to the emergency medical team sent to the scene he had a fracture in the base of his skull, extremely serious injuries,’ Mr Crescenti also said.Â
Liam Payne had arrived in Argentina earlier this month for his ex-bandmate Niall Horan’s concert with his girlfriend Kate Cassidy. However she returned home two days before his death.
Around the same time, his ex-fiancée Maya Henry instructed lawyers to issue Payne with a cease and desist letter after accusing him of repeatedly contacting her.
Following Payne’s death, officials interviewed five witnesses. The group included three hotel workers and two women who had been with Payne in his room in the hours before his death but were not present at the time of death.
Per the prosecutor’s office, the ongoing investigation is “aimed at determining the possible involvement of third parties in the victimâs death.”
