Super Eagles star Taiwo Awoniyi has revealed his favorite Nigerian musician, and it’s not Wizkid or Davido.

In a recent interview with Livescore, the Nottingham Forest forward made his surprising pick and shared his love for all things Nigerian.  

Hailing from Kwara State, Awoniyi talked about how he prefers Nigerian food, music, and weather over what’s available in the United Kingdom, where he currently lives.

He didn’t hold back when he expressed his deep connection to his home country, calling Nigeria his ultimate vacation destination.  

While discussing football, Awoniyi made another bold statement, declaring that Nigeria boasts better football legends than England. It’s clear that his national pride runs deep.  

But the highlight of the interview was when Awoniyi was asked to name his favorite Nigerian artist. Unlike his Super Eagles teammate Ademola Lookman, who recently crowned Wizkid as his top choice, Awoniyi went in a completely different direction.

He confidently picked Olamide, praising the rapper’s music as his all-time favorite.  

The decision caught many by surprise, given the global fame of artists like Wizkid and Davido. Yet, Awoniyi’s choice shows his appreciation for Olamide’s unique style and influence in the Nigerian music scene.
