A Kano-based Federal High Court has convicted popular tiktoker Murja Ibrahim Kunya, also known as Murja Kunja, for abusing naira.
On Wednesday, May 28, 2025, Justice Simone Amobeda sentenced the defendant, who has pleaded guilty to naira spraying and mutilation.

The conviction was obtained after weeks of rigorous investigation and surveillance by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s (EFCC) Kano Directorate.
According to reports, Kunya was arrested for allegedly spraying Naira notes for fun during her stay in a Kano hotel known as Tahir Guest Palace.

In anticipation of her arraignment before the Federal High Court in Kano, the Commission granted her administrative bail. In an attempt to avoid the legal system, the TikToker fled when it came time for her court appearance.
