US lab denies testing Mohbad for toxins.
The National Medical Services Laboratories in Pennsylvania, USA, has denied conducting a toxicology test to determine the cause of singer Ilerioluwa Aloba’s, aka Mohbad, death. This refutes earlier claims made by the Lagos State Government. Despite assertions by state officials that a toxicology test was conducted at NMS Labs, the lab’s Client Services Associate, Esther Dede, stated that they had no record of such a case.
The controversy surrounding Mohbad’s death escalated when an autopsy failed to determine the cause due to corpse decomposition. The state government claimed a toxicology test was conducted at NMS Labs, with results arriving in April 2024. However, the lab denies involvement, prompting further scrutiny into the matter.
Lagos State Commissioner for Information, Gbenga Omotoso, clarified that the lab’s name was provided by the state DNA and Forensic Centre. He expressed willingness to reconfirm details provided by the Centre. Mohbad’s death, occurring on September 12, 2023, led to speculation and social media controversies, particularly given his association with Marlian Music and subsequent departure from the label in February 2022. The Lagos State Police Command initiated a special investigation team to probe the singer’s demise on September 18, 2023.
