A Kaduna bound passenger train travelling from Abuja to Kaduna derailed on Tuesday morning, leaving several carriages overturned and triggering panic among those on board.
It was gathered that the incident happened along the well-traveled corridor soon after the train left Abuja at approximately 11 a.m. on its way to Kaduna.
As a result of the event, numerous passengers have fled for their safety, calling the scenario terrifying and chaotic.
The sudden derailment caused pandemonium as passengers hurried out of the derailed compartments, according to an eyewitness.
The eyewitness said, “It is a complete pandemonium. People who were confirmed to be saved were seen running in different directions. It was pure panic.
“We can not confirm if everyone is safe yet but we pray everyone comes out alive.”
He said, “I don’t want to say much for now, but the incident is confirmed and the rescue operation is on as we speak.
As of this report, no casualties have been officially confirmed, although the cause of the disaster is yet unknown.

Over the years, the rail route has experienced numerous delays, such as the terrorist attack in March 2022 that resulted in multiple fatalities and numerous kidnappings.
