In a statement posted on X on Wednesday, Festus Keyamo explained that the role being considered for Emmanson, as well as for Fuji music icon Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (KWAM 1) in a separate case, would be honorary and come with no financial benefits.
Emmanson was released earlier on Wednesday after being jailed over an incident on an Ibom Air flight. Her release followed government intervention and the subsequent withdrawal of the airline’s complaint.
“Whilst the aviation agencies are considering using KWAM 1 for such a role, in my discussion last night with the Airline Operators of Nigeria, they are also looking at the option of using Ms. Comfort Emmanson, who has also shown remorse, as their own ambassador for good passenger conduct,” he stated.

He, however, said the decision is left to airline operators.
“It is left for the AON to work out those details since she has been actually released from prison custody today based on my earlier statement”, he stated.
Festus Keyamo emphasized that such ambassadorial roles are not official positions and have been given to repentant individuals by past Nigerian governments.
“It is akin to community service”, the Minister added.
Recalls that Emmanson was involved in an altercation with Ibom Air on August 10, an issue that attracted mixed reactions among Nigerians.
KWAM 1 had a similar altercation with ValueJet airline officials on August 5.
