Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has approved the establishment of a community market in each of the state’s 21 local government areas.
The new markets will complement the existing markets across the state and are expected to further stimulate commercial activities in the various communities.
Deputy Governor Professor Kaletapwa Farauta announced the decision on Wednesday while speaking to journalists during an inspection of the proposed market site in Numan Local Government Area.
Farauta explained that the markets would provide centralised spaces where individuals and businesses could operate, expand their activities and contribute to the local economy.
She said the initiative was part of the government’s efforts to create an enabling environment for businesses and increase commercial opportunities across the state.
The deputy governor also directed the newly elected local government chairmen to ensure that construction of the markets in their respective areas was completed on schedule.
Farauta assured the councils that the state government would make the necessary funds available promptly to facilitate the timely execution of the projects.
