Amid worsening political crisis in Rivers State, the state’s House of Assembly has stated a tough condition to President Bola Tinubu, should he want to intervene in the political crisis and halt impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
The assembly’s spokesperson, Enemi George, declared that the decision to impeach the governor could not be stopped, pointing out that despite the president’s involvement, he continued to break the rules and repeat the same mistakes.

George stated in an appearance on TVC on Thursday, January 8, that changing the nation’s constitution is the only way to force President Tinubu to halt the impeachment process; else, the governor will be removed from office.
According to earlier reports, Rivers State’s political landscape drastically changed when members of the state’s House of Assembly started the process of impeaching Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Ngozi Odu.

Citing financial problems and violations of constitutional duties, the lawmakers accused both leaders of egregious misbehaviour.

Meanwhile, the House of Assembly have also dismissed claims that the ongoing impeachment process against Governor Siminalayi Fubara is influenced by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
