Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and immediate past Governor of Kano State, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has rejected the Kano State Government’s call for his arrest.

He described the demand as baseless and irresponsible.
Ganduje made this known in a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Edwin Olofu.
According to the statement, the move by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration showed a failure to focus on the real security issues affecting the state.
“It is deeply unfortunate that rather than addressing the escalating insecurity ravaging the state, Governor Yusuf has chosen to chase shadows while searching for scapegoats to conceal his glaring failures,” he said.
According to Ganduje, communities in Bagwai, Shanono, Tsanyawa, and other areas have faced repeated attacks, yet the governor has neither visited nor shown empathy toward the victims.
“His continued absence in moments that require leadership speaks volumes of his disconnect from the people he claims to serve,” the statement added.

Ganduje insisted that he has never been associated with violence nor linked to any act that undermines the peace and stability of Kano State.
He stressed that the allegation was only meant to distract the public.
He urged Governor Yusuf to focus on his constitutional duty of protecting Kano residents instead of engaging in political theatrics and issuing unfounded allegations.
Recall that on Friday, the Kano State Government called for the immediate arrest of Abdullahi Umar Ganduje over alleged inciting statements and attempts to create an illegal militia group in the state.
