The Gombe State Government has approved the full implementation of the new national minimum wage for workers in the state’s local government system.
The approval was announced on Friday, April 24, 2026, by the Head of Civil Service, Prof. Mu’azu Shehu. According to him, the decision applies to employees across the 11 local government councils, the Local Education Authority (LEA), and primary healthcare workers in Gombe.

He explained that the new wage structure will take effect from May 2026, with the government having cleared the remaining 43 percent balance, bringing implementation to 100 percent.
Prof. Shehu attributed the development to improved financial stability at the local government level, which he said now allows councils to meet salary obligations without delays.
He added that the full implementation of the minimum wage is expected to enhance workers’ morale, increase productivity, and improve service delivery at the grassroots level.
