President Bola Tinubu and Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas are currently meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Kefas came to the State House in the company of the All Progressives Congress National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, at 2 pm on Monday and proceeded to a closed-door discussion with the President, our correspondent witnessed.

Monday’s engagement marks Kefas’ first visit to the Presidency since he defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress.
Recall that he was slated for an APC welcome on November 19, but suspended the ceremony, saying it would be insensitive to hold a political event as Kebbi reeled from the abduction of schoolgirls in Maga.

A few days prior, fifteen members including the Speaker of the state House of Assembly left the PDP to join the APC, claiming the necessity to “align with the centre” and the national turmoil inside the opposition party.
Nationally, the APC has been courting opposition individuals as 2027 approaches, with ruling-party officials hinting at further high-profile defections from PDP strongholds in the North and the Middle Belt.

Kefas, a retired Nigerian Army lieutenant colonel and former chairman of the board of NIMASA, won the March 2023 governorship election on the PDP platform.
