Gunshots in Onitsha market as traders, security operatives clash [VIDEO]

An intense Pandemonium broke out in Onitsha Market, Anambra State, on Tuesday when traders clashed with security officers enforcing the closure of the facility.

According to reports, Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo closed the market on Monday due to the Indigenous People of Biafra’s (IPOB) ongoing adherence to the sit-at-home directive.

The governor asked why stores were still shuttered in spite of Anambra’s tranquilly and the state governmrnts order for residents to ignore the IPOB sit-at-home.

The chaos comes after the governor shut down the Onitsha market for a week on Monday.

Recall that on Tuesday morning that armoured tanks and heavily armed policemen were deployed to enforce the market closure.

However, traders fearlessly stormed the facility later on Tuesday, attempting to gain access to their shops.

There refusal to obey the governor’s order led to the clash with the enforcers.

In a viral video, the traders could be seen running around for safety while loud gunshots were heard from the market.
