Hamilton urges media to stop singling out black players

Hamilton backs Saka, urges media to stop singling out black players.

Even-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton has condemned the English media for unfairly targeting black athletes, specifically highlighting the criticism faced by Bukayo Saka following England’s recent loss to Iceland. Saka, who had just returned from injury, played 20 minutes in the defeat and was quickly singled out by the press.

Hamilton, known for his outspoken stance against racism, called for accountability in an Instagram story, stating, “We need to hold the English media accountable for systemically vilifying Black players. The constant scapegoating of Black players needs to stop.” Hamilton emphasized that racial discrimination has no place in football and urged for a more objective assessment of all players.

Saka, an Arsenal and England star, will join the Three Lions in Germany for Euro 2024, starting in a few days.
