Reactions have followed the moment Hilda Baci’s jollof rice pot collapsed during her latest attempt at a Guinness World Record (GWR).
On Friday, September 12, the Nigerian chef aimed to set a new record for the largest pot of jollof rice in Lagos State.
However, a dramatic incident unfolded when the massive cooking pot suddenly gave way while it was being lifted for weighing.
Given the importance of scaling in validating Baci’s record attempt by GWR after a successful cooking, a crane was brought to lift the gigantic 22,619-litre pot to determine its weight together with the rice.
After the pot suddenly gave way under its weight during the process, the crane operator was instructed to halt the lift to prevent further damage.
The incident, which happened on Friday night, leaves uncertainty about the official submission to the GWR, as the final measurement of the pot is essential to certify Baci’s attempt.
According to reports that Hilda Baci had, during her analysis, announced that she would be cooking 250 bags of rice.
