Rabiu Kwankwaso, a prominent member of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has revealed that he and his supporters received no compensation for casting nearly two million votes for the late former president Muhammadu Buhari.
Kwankwaso bemoaned the fact that Buhari’s camp never acknowledged their efforts, even though he risked his life to secure the necessary number of votes.
The former kano governor also claimed that the experience motivated him to pursue political change in an appearance on Monday night’s Prime Time on Arise Television.

He said: “I worked so hard. We brought about 1.9, almost 2 million votes. But as politicians, we are not recognised. We put our lives even on the line at that time.
“Unfortunately, we could not see any benefit either as individuals or the constituencies that we represented.”
He further mentioned problems with President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
According to Kwankwaso, Nigerians at all levels are yearning for change as a result of this situation.
Additionally, he said, “Everybody knows there are issues with this administration again. And therefore, people are determined at grassroots level, and even at the level we are operating now, that there should be some level of changes.”
Why I decided to work with Peter Obi

Speaking during the interview, Rabiu Kwankwaso, revealed why he decided to form an alliance with former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
He said, “But for me, it wasn’t just because we are going to the South East. No, I looked around together with our leadership in the North to ask who we think is capable, who can come and work honestly with us so that we can move this country forward.
“And along the line, we realized that Peter Obi is at the forefront of it, and that’s why we all accepted to work together.”
